1,000 new jobs at Jaguar Land Rover Solihull
Isn’t it nice, when all we hear of the economy is doom and gloom, that Jaguar Land Rover are doing so well they need to take on more staff to cope with demand? That’s exactly what’s happening at the JLR Solihull plant, where JLR are increasing the plant workforce by 25 per cent with the addition of 1,000 production operators and skilled trades people. The Jaguar Land Rover plant at Solihull is currently home to the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery 4 and Defender.
Independent design studio Motorcity Europe (MCE) is launching another series of two- and five-day design workshops aimed at broadening the skills, experience and job prospects of anyone working - or looking to work - within the field of automotive design. Based on the massive success of the MCE Summer Seminars, these follow up workshops in February 2010 will be an intensely improved version, open to all skill levels of design. But if we look at who’s behind the XRAY, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised. Steve Mattin, formerly with Mercedes and Volvo, penned the new Lada, and a very convincing job he’s done.
